About Aidan

Aidan Joseph Silva was a kind, bright, and gentle child. He was always the first to include others, whether playing with neighborhood friends or spending time with his older cousins at family reunions. He loved sports—soccer, basketball, and baseball—and was a devoted Phillies fan, with Ryan Howard as his favorite player. Above all, he was a loving big brother to his sidekick, Devin.

On Labor Day Weekend 2010, Aidan suddenly collapsed while playing outside and passed away from unexplained Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). Despite medical investigations, no cause for the arrhythmia that stopped his heart was ever found. Just six weeks earlier, he had received a clean bill of health at his annual checkup. Aidan was 7 years, 10 weeks, and 5 days old.

Turning Tragedy Into Action

In the wake of Aidan’s passing, his mother, Christy Marshall-Silva, founded Aidan’s Heart Foundation to prevent other families from experiencing the same loss. The foundation provides youth heart screenings, CPR and AED training, and advocacy for heart-safe communities.

Aidan’s legacy continues through every child screened, every AED placed, and every student trained in life-saving skills. His story is a reminder of why early detection and preparedness matter.
