“Studies have shown that, by 6th grade, most students have the body mass to effectively deliver CPR compressions.”
At Aidan’s Heart Foundation, we believe in changing the culture of cardiac emergency preparedness by empowering our youth with simple, life-saving skills. Our kids are powerful, and they are brave enough to take action!
Yesterday, together with EMS teams at Good Fellowship Ambulance & EMS Training Institute and Uwchlan Ambulance Corps, we OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED 30 students at Marsh Creek Sixth Grade Center in Downingtown Area School District in Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR+AED.
Downingtown STEM Academy junior Maycie Kulp, who recently earned her EMT certification, spoke to the students about her passion for teaching these skills to other students in the community. Current 6th grade students Louis Oswald, Will Shook and Sebastian Villarose, who earned the CPR certification last year and raised funds for two AEDs for East Ward Elementary School, cited important statistics about why knowing these skills is critical to improving the current rate of survival from 10% to 90% just by starting CPR and using an AED.
We are grateful to the team at FOX 29, especially Jodi Harris and Hank Flynn, for sharing our mission of empowering youth with the greater Philadelphia community. Hats off once again to MC6GC Principal Tom Mulvey for opening his doors to our community organizations in effort to make us all safer and stronger.
Congratulations, Narwhals! We are so proud of our newest army of Heart Heroes!
