Aidan’s Heart Foundation announced legislation to make our schools safer for students. Senator Katie Muth, former athletic director and fearless champion of these bi-partisan efforts, introduced SB512 to require AEDs and emergency action plans in all schools, and SB513 to ensure that coaches are certified in CPR.

Aidan’s Heart Foundation Checks 116 Young Hearts, Finds 6 At Risk: Warwick High School Heart Screening Event, 12/02/2022
On Friday, December 2, Aidan’s Heart checked the hearts of 116 high school athletes. Although the national average for identifying life-threatening cardiac conditions through EKG testing is 1 in 300, we found significant abnormalities in 6 of the 116 students we screened.
Aidan’s Heart and Sen. Muth Announce Comprehensive Pilot Program for AEDs in PA Schools
Although Sudden Cardiac Arrest is the number one cause of death among student athletes on school property, AEDs are not yet required in PA schools. Senator Katie Muth, a former athletic trainer, is determined to change that. And she wants to do it the right way, by providing a comprehensive program to best ensure that AEDs are accessible and that school staff know how to use them.
